Participated in ACM/SIGHPC and TACC's Advanced Computing for Social Change / Computing4Change at the SC21 Conference. For this program, I had to create a story for the online discourse on the term 'Filipinx' on Twitter by implementing sentiment analysis on Twitter data.

  • Web scraped Twitter API for publicly available data.
  • Create visualizations, such as word cloud for the top 50 frequently used words and bar graphs for the sentiment analysis that associates a word with a feeling using the NRC emotion lexicon.
  • Develop a story for the online discourse using the analyzed Twitter data.

Participated in Research Experience & Extension for Undergraduates funded by the United States Department of Agriculture to analyze leaf and root growth of eight different maize inbred lines.

  • Carefully collected plant data at a consistent schedule.
  • Analyzed plant data through R using frameworks such as Principal Component Analysis and Support Vector Machine.
  • Created visualizations using the data collected to construct conclusions. Presented research at UH Mānoa’s 2021 SURE Symposium.
